This week I focused on completing the 'grooming' stage. Before I could do any real cleaning, I had to fix root/tipwidth. On the left is the hair without it, and on the right, tipwidth is set at 0. details details...
So here is the groomed model. I spent a lot of time this week cleaning the face, hands, and feet. Click for hi-res:
I also started to paint the root and tip color on the model. Click for hi-res:
I also added guard-hairs and whitehairs. In 9.5 this is as easy as clicking a shelf button... I had to fake it in 9.1. I might have to turn the density, or root thickness up a little, as the skin is visible here.
All of this is great and all... but we have a separate high res model that will be animated. So I started to play around with a way to export each painted attribute into COPS, and then into an image which can be brought back in. After it was all figured out, and done, I realized that THIS doesnt even matter, as the UV's will be completely different for the high res. SO. ALL OF THESE ATTRIBUTES WILL HAVE TO BE RE-PAINTED since they are point attributes. Kill me?
Unless John can layout the UV's for the high-res EXACTLY the same as the low res...
For next week, I'll be working on dynamics, as well as figuring out how we will separate the fur into different passes.
